We invite you to do a day trip with an off-road vehicle to admire the diversity of the landscapes and culture in the region of Taouz. The visit of the lake Dayet Srij constitutes the first stage of the Trip across the sand dunes. The first rains cover the lakebed, what attracts migratory aquatic fauna typical of the desert: herons, flamingos, moorhen and snipe that, along with the reflection of the sky and the dunes, paint in the lake a wonderful picture.
Then we will drive to the village of Khamlia that is home of the tribe Gnaoua, whose ancestors were the last blacks slaves brought in Morocco. Here we will have the possibility to travel through time thanks to their spiritual music that will relax us and take us to another dimension. After a welcome tea, we will go to the old city of Taouz, where we will visit the rock carvings, engraved in stone more than 3,000 years ago. The fourth stage of the trip are the famous mines of Mifis. French exploited this site from 1930 to 1965 for the extraction of barite, hematite and quartz. The spectacular panoramic view and the proximity of the Algerian border (just 50 km) will add a touch to this exciting adventure. The next stop will be the visit of a Berber nomad family with whom we will share a good tea and few minutes of their nomadic life. We will end the tour with a visit of the oasis of Tissardmin where we will see some very old sedimentary rocks that contain fossils of plants and animals that lived in that region. And, before we will drop you off at your hotel, we will stop one last time to take some photos of the plane of Saint-Exupery’s “Little Prince”.
